WinMe: CleanUp 4 and Beta. Re: Files Remain After CleanUp.

Hello,

Relatively new to CleanUp (two weeks in).

Files in C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files\Content IE5\Index.dat remain after 'Thorough' clean.

As here (in part):

Source: PurgeIE.

Also in both 4.0 and Beta, with 'Write Log File' checked, I would like to ask where is the logfile to be found?

My thanks for the software.

Ben.

It occurs to me that the'CleanUp Report' may also be what is referred to in the Options dialogue as "Write log file" but this is an option (check/uncheck) so am not sure.

AND an update:

CleanUp has, since the above was written, given me a wholly satisfactory result in terms of C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files\Content IE5\Index.dat will keep checking.

Hello,

For what it is worth...

I conclude that CleanUp both does and does not cleanup files stored here:

C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files\Content IE5\Index.dat

However I cannot determine what may be at the back of this anomaly. It is my intention to return to using version 4.0.

Ben.

Which I did. I am now convinced that both the 4.0 and Beta versions do not clean, fully or in part, those files as mentioned above.

:?: Did you copy-and-paste that path into the messages? I don't have that path on my Windows 2000 machine with IE 6, but I do have a Content.IE5 (notice the dot and no space between "Content" and "IE5") under C:\Documents and Settings\...

If you did copy-and-paste the path into your posts, then that explains why CleanUp! does not remove files from that path. It is a path that CleanUp! does not "know" about. But if you can verify it for me, then I could add it to the next beta release. :-)

Hello Steve,

My apologies for the delay in this response.

Yes I did copy and paste the path into the posts. I can no longer rely on my typing and eyesight to do an accurate job!

Certainly what you have to say would account for what I reported as my findings on the matter.

Hoping this has been of some use to you. I look forward to your next beta.

Best wishes.

Ben.
