Each should be considered with respect to your specific business conditions. There may be very good business reasons why you are not able to take advantage of some or all of these. For example, upgrading your servers may be a simple task if you only have one or two servers and they are easily accessible. However, if your application is installed on hundreds or thousands of your customers' servers, performing a hardware upgrade may be impractical or infeasible.

Still, it is worthwhile revisiting these options periodically, possibly when starting a major new release of the application.
